Solidarity Sing-in!

Join the nationwide wave of singing resistance with your Iowa City neighbors!

On Monday, March 23rd, we are gathering from 7-9pm to learn movement songs, ground ourselves in joyful and civil nonviolent resistance, and share ways to plug in to our local ecosystem of action.

WHY WE GATHER:
We know that singing together invites us to open ourselves to grief and love, connect to each other in breath and heartbeat, and strengthen our souls for resilient action. This sing-in will cultivate connection and prepare us for strategic ways to act locally.

WHO WE ARE:
The Singing Resistance is a decentralized mass movement singing solidarity in strategic noncooperation against rising authoritarianism in the United States. Standing on the shoulders of civil resistance transnationally, the movement is grounded in radical welcoming and nonviolence, inviting all to stand against oppressive systems and to create the future of collective liberation. Iowa City’s pod is a convergence of song families inviting neighbors to sing on the streets against local authoritarian tactics and to uplift already present networks of mutual aid for sustained resilience.
